We would like to take your word but the USA had done nothing "concrete" to convince us. Since WW2 the USA had undertaken various actions that worried most nations. The Korean war, the Vietnam war, Iraq war and the Afghanistan conflict were the major actions. Then there were other US and allied actions which the world viewed as negative.
Maybe you would like to explain why 9/11 happened. If it was a terrorist act against the States, then why did USA hit Iraq and Afghanistan? Why did USA changed it reasons for the offensive e.g In Iraq the stated reason was WMD, then changed to regime change? In Afghanistan, it was originally a strike on terror, then changed to ridding the drug trade? Why is it taking so long for the world's only superpower and Allies to finish off the fight after 9 unduly long years? Why is there no time table to end this conflict? And is the USA and friends not committing genocide if it does managed to eradicate the Talibans? |

 | tim 2009-10-16 12:48 | | | The claim that al qaeda is cia trained is totally apocryphal. many people here are misinformed. while bin laden cut his teeth in the mujahideen, he did not form al qaeda until much later. The groups the US funded in Afghanistan largely crumbled in the face of the Taliban in the mid-1990's, although one of the Taliban's current leaders (Haqqani) was once a CIA asset. The mistake we made was to leave Afghanistan radicalized with hope of stable progress. This, in turn, left Pakistan holding the bag, and they had no choice but to coddle the extremists. Of course, some of these extremist groups in Pakistan serve state interests against India, but that's another story. All in all, this is a far cry from the US controlling al Qaeda at any point: we made a mistake by not repaying the people who did our bidding. That's not the same as promoting terrorism. Bin Laden has been attacking the US for decades. After all, he had no use for the US after the USSR was destroyed. I seriously doubt al Qaeda will attack China--that would be about as stupid as Hitler's declaring war on the US preemptively or his invasion of Russia. But who knows--they are ultimately fanatical zealots motivated by delusion. And the Xinjiang riots sure are an affront to those crazies. They aren't as driven by practical politics as the iranians and the pakistanis |
 | to china4ever 2009-10-16 12:32 | | | I'm curious, from reading your comment. Do Chinese people in general approve of having been part of the Korean war? What are the general public's views on this? |

 | BulletProofVest 2009-10-14 14:54 | | | When someone points a gun in your face, there are better things to do instead of blaming everyone else around you.
We all know that Al Qaeda does not stand for the true Islam. They are as misguided as the other lost religious extremists that disrupt our everyday life, harmony, and happiness that we live -- as human beings -- regardless where we are or under what flag that flies above our heads: West, East, North, South, China, US, Canada, Sweden, Holland, Denmark, Islam, Christianity, Muhammed, Jesus, Buddah.
These brainwashed religious extremists are still living in the Middle Ages and for some reason cannot understand why we want to live in peace. As diverse and multi-cultural as we are --all 6,000,000,000+ of us --- we all have the same address: Earth.
This pathetic extremist behavior should not be tolerated. No one needs another 9/11. Especially not China. Al Qaeda is a pest, nothing more than a rat. In order to eradicate the neighborhood rat, we need to work together as neighbors. When the governments of China, Russia, England and especially the US realizes this, we will all be better off. Together we should stand, because with our combined, together we will never fall. |

 | diazepam 2009-10-14 11:42 | | | Xingjiang is a part of China and it's people r Chinese no matter han or muslims. So any insult to han people or muslim people of xingjian is also our insult,it's the insult of our nation.Xingjian is our internal matter we don't need any suggestion by Al-Qaida or west both r same for China. |
 | HsunTze 2009-10-12 18:24 | | | Veryfunny, I agree with you. The Chinese people just want to be left alone to develop in peace. They are hard working friendly and humble.
The Chinese have learned their history. Anyone who think that their humbleness is weakness, let them think again. Behind that humbleness is solid steel. |
