 @Bunking

Without energy there will not be an economy. But economies that mindlessly waste energy will also face a hard time to survive.

Rising costs for energy is a problem all countries in the world are confronted with.

It has nothing to with a conspiracy to harm China as you suggest but with limited resources.

It does not make much sense to own a private car where public transportation is available. High fuel prices will force governments to invest in affordable public transportation.

@Nissan3
Once again I totally agree with your post.

 Someone in this forum said increasing the petrol prices will eventually let China to catch up with the world.

China catching up with what? Without energy there will not be an economy. The US should increase their prices more as they are the largest consumer by far ahead of any countries to reduce demand and lower the international market prices for petroleum.

Prices have increase so much and so fast that a conspiracy is developing as to halt the fast track of developments from developing countries and that also includes China.
Energy is so important and without energy there would be no economy.

A German said prices in Germany cost 1.5 euro per liter. The German still can very much afford it at this price or even higher as the average wages in Germany is 15 euro an hour or more. That is just 10% of their hourly wages.

The same scenario applies to developing countries, including China. How much an average worker earn in an hour?

The poor people will be much worse off around the world.

 Roy - there are several issues that are impacting the rapidly rising cost of crude oil. The weakened U.S. dollar is one of those issues. But, another key factor is rising demand compared to a slowly increasing or possibly flat growth in crude oil availability. People - there is only so much oil left in the ground to pump out. Yet demand in the U.S., China, India and a number of other countries continues to accelerate upward. If there is a scarcity or coming scarcity of a product, what do you think will happen to the price? The answer is UP, UP, UP...for oil and gasoline.

China and other countries that subsidize local petroleum product prices only aggravate the situation. Such subsidies lower the price of the product but increase usage. This only lulls the end users into laxity and they continue to buy more cars, drive them more and waste more oil. STOP selling so many cars! That would also help.

 This is political issue which brought us to this point. Can our country use its power to change all these. I know they know the truth behind it, so we need a relief by any means.

 Compared to Germany fuel is still pretty cheap in China, even after the current increase in price.
In Germany I have to pay more than 1.50€ per liter, that is about 16 Yuan.

In my country there are more and more people who switch to public transportation.

 The increasing price of oil does have some bad effects on our daily life,but I am still for it,at least,it is a must and the first step for china to be catch up with the world trend in its oil market.
Gradually,we will get used to the change.

 Several years ago i worried about how to buy a house with high housing price and low salary;but now i worried about how to survive with high food price and still low salary. However, i am still full of hope and believe everything will be better through the joint efforts of our government and myself.
Life is not easy, why not be more optimistic.
