The evil nature of American politicians is to exploit others' weakness and make the most out of their sufferings. Right now, we could see it happening in Iraq; the Iraqis are deprived of their freedom and rights to settle their own internal conflicts between various political forces.
There're presently two potential HOT SPOTS in Asia and South Asia, namely, Myanmar and Pakistan. Like any other country, both Myanmar and Pakistan have complicated problems between different political forces. The Americans are most keen to step in to lay their hands in others' family matters. Once the Americans got their foothold in these countries, that's the beginning of serious problems emerging. Iraq is a perfect example. ASEAN would never allow US to interfere in her 'family' problems. The ASEAN members could handle the situation with the help from China, India and Japan. Similarly, Pakistan would never allow US to dip its hands in Pakistan's 'family' affairs. Can we imagine what would happen if the Chinese allow the Americans to take full control of China's 'family' problems? There will be a domino effect which follows after Taiwan; Tibet, Xinjiang and.... The Americans had a sweet victory over the former Soviet Union in the 80s, so they're still dreaming in seeing China breakdown soon. This is their greatest EVIL dream! My conclusion is, US doesn't want to go independent but permanently SPLIT from China. Then the Americans could forever manipulate the Taiwanese as they like as long as there are MADMAN like Chen Shuibian and his gang around!

1. The US wants Taiwan and China to destroy each other.
If China suffers attack and destruction by Taiwan, China will become weaker and the US will become stronger without having to fight China and without suffering any destruction itself.
2. The US wants to sell arms to Taiwan to fund its deficit. The US is the biggest arms trafficker in the world today. It needs other people to have wars because its huge military-industrial complex (business) depends on making weapons for sale.
I don't think China wants to be unfriendly with the US. In fact, China has been bending over backwards to please the US. This is a bad strategy for China in the long run because the US will never be satisfied - each time China satisfies one US demand, the US will present another demand. The US will be satisfied only when China is weak and broken up.
That is why the US quietly encourages Taiwan to provoke China, hoping China will retaliate and a war starts. 2008 is a year of danger for China.

But as I said the TRA is stupid and should be repealed as it takes both the US and China out of the decision loop and allows the madman in Taiwan, Chen Shui Bian to DECIDE when the US and China shall go to war over the Taiwan Straits.
Even if both the US and China don't seek to fight each other and exhaust each other's blood and treasures, the decision now rest ominously with Chen Shui Bian. What a mess the US has made for itself and China by blindly enacting the TRA.
All the trouble maker in Taiwan has to do is to declare independence and war will start over the Taiwan Straits !

Yes any nation can have the best military in the universe if it spends US$600 billion a year or more on its military.
On the eve of 911 the Defense Secretary Rumsfeld admitted to a Congressional Committee that he COULD NOT account for US$2.3 TRILLION of funds at the Pentagon. If he was a CEO of Enron he or his CFO would have been thrown in jail.
The point is that the US may have SECRET fundings to boost its military might by printing more dollars and that could explain why it has the best military in the world.
BUT the best military in the world is no match for a small guerilla army fighting an asymetric war with it.
See what is happening to the best military in Iraq. It is starring in the face of defeat! It was also defeated in Korea (at least it did not win) and in Vietnam.
But the future don't augur well for the best military in the world as it is now deeply in horrendous debts and soon will be fighting wars using credit cards and loans from China!!!
The Roman and British Empires both collapsed because they had to borrow to fight to keep the empire safe and both went bankrupt. The American military empire is next to fall.
In the end ALL Empires fall.
Hope in the future when China has the biggest economy in the world (analysts say this is slated to happen around 2025) it will not be tempted to start an empire because then it too will be relegated into the scrap heap of history.
BUT I am confident that China has learnt the lessons in the last 5,000 years and will not fall into that EMPIRE trap !

I stated : "China, I believe, is not interested to go to war with the USA, but when forced to, China would response vigorously, decisively and with deadly strikes! So, Americans must recognise such imminent eventuality, the stakes for the Americans are too high and too much to absorb!"
To put things in the right perspective, China will not want to fight with the Americans, BUT China is NOT afraid to response to any American threat of war, particularly over Taiwan! On the contrary, US dares not start a war with China because their stakes are too high to justify a war with China! So, the next best thing the Americans can do is to interfere, irritate, and block China's effort for unification. The Americans take advantage of the separatists' feelings of acquring independence and constantly stirring ill-feelings between the compatroits across the Straits. Let's be honest, every country has dissidents; and Americans' ugly nature is such that they always attempt to alienate citizens of the same country to create an anachy and chaotic situations in the country. The Americans would try to plunder whatever they could find in the country. This is exactly happening in Iraq and going to happen in Iran soon!

China is not afraid of war imposing on China. yes, you are right that the "US military is the best in the world". to win a war is not just based on its military and weapons but based on just war. don't you know that Korean war in 1950 ? at that time american military was the best in the world, but China's volunteers' weapons were just rifles plus millet, volunteers could beat america together with its 16 allies, why ? pls give an answer.

Yes you could conclude that the USA likes wars. It's kind of a favorite pastime of the Americans and I think they don't know what to do with themselves if they don't have a war to fight. But forget what gov'ts say because all gov'ts spin things one way or another and look the reasons for wars. US in is Iraq for oil and that's it. There are lots of bad leaders in the world right now ie. warlords in africa but they don't go after them. So this crap about WMDs and Regime Change is BS. OIL that's it. More importantly they know that they could kick Iraq's ass and although will say bad things about it...well sticks and stones..no other nation was or will actually help Iraq militarily.
Now let's look at the Taiwan/USA/China situation. USA want to go to war with China? Why would they want to do that? Seriously? You live in China? I do. I look out my window now and I see KFC, GE, Ford, Coke, Hagen Daas etc. All American stuff. They've invested billions here and you think they want to blow it all up now? For a little island off the coast of China? Now look at it from China's perspective. All this investment is spurning my nation's deevlopment AND like it or not the US military is the best in the world. Both sides would suffer heavy losses but China would suffer more in an all out fight. And for what??? A little island where almost 99.9% of mainland Chinese have never seen or set foot on. You gonna send your kid off to potentially die for that island?
Unless people are really retarded. There will be no war.

Before re-unification of the two German States - East Germany and West germany - China had strongly supported the German cause of re-unification. Regaining a country's sovereignty and terretorial right is a solemn duty and responsibility of every dutiful citizen of that country concerned. Taiwan is always a part of China, and Taiwan will never be split away by any subversive forces - the separatist Chen Shuibian and his gang with the help of Western anti-China activists!
